The Sensorbee EnviroSense Module (SB4502) is a multi-parameter environmental sensor that measures humidity, VOC index, NOx index, and barometric pressure from a single 5-gram package. Using photoacoustic sensor technology, the EnviroSense provides comprehensive environmental baseline data that complements particulate matter and gas measurements from the Air Pro 2 monitoring station. Every Air Pro 2 ships with the EnviroSense module as standard, making it a core component of the Sensorbee monitoring ecosystem.
The SB4502 uses photoacoustic sensing technology to detect gaseous compounds (VOC and NOx) alongside traditional capacitive humidity and piezoresistive pressure measurement. Photoacoustic sensing works by pulsing light at specific wavelengths through the air sample and measuring the acoustic response — absorbed light energy heats the target gases, causing pressure waves that a microphone detects. This approach provides reliable detection without the degradation issues that affect purely electrochemical sensors over time.
The module samples the local environment continuously and outputs data to the Air Pro 2 base station, where it is combined with particulate matter, gas, temperature, and noise data for unified transmission to the Sensorbee Cloud.
The EnviroSense delivers four environmental measurements in a single module:
Environmental monitoring data without meteorological context tells only half the story. The EnviroSense provides the baseline environmental parameters that transform raw pollutant measurements into actionable insights.
The EnviroSense is included as standard with every Air Pro 2 monitoring station. The module plugs into the base unit's internal sensor bus and is automatically detected — no configuration, wiring, or setup is required. Data from the EnviroSense appears alongside all other sensor measurements on the Sensorbee Cloud dashboard.
Because the module weighs just 5 grams and measures D20 × 24 mm, it adds negligible size and weight to the monitoring station. The polyamide enclosure provides protection across the full -20 to +60°C and 0–100% RH operating range.
The VOC Index is a relative scale (0–500) that represents the concentration of volatile organic compounds in the air. A higher index value indicates greater VOC presence. The index is useful for identifying air quality changes and comparing conditions over time, rather than measuring a specific compound at a defined concentration.

The EnviroSense is designed for integration with the Air Pro 2 sensor bus. It does not operate independently or connect directly to external data loggers.
The EnviroSense has an operational life exceeding two years under normal operating conditions. Replacement modules are available from Sensorbee when service intervals are reached.
Photoacoustic sensor technology is inherently less sensitive to humidity interference than some electrochemical approaches. However, extreme humidity conditions can influence any gas sensor. The collocated humidity measurement allows data users to correlate and evaluate VOC and NOx readings against ambient moisture levels.
