Modem Menu
The modem menu is where you inspect and control the Air Pro 2's cellular connection from the USB-C terminal. It is the practical tool for diagnosing a unit that will not register on site, and for configuring a SIM that needs a specific APN.
Requires base unit firmware 3.39.0 or later. On earlier firmware this menu is not present.
Menu mode no longer connects automatically. From 3.39.0 the unit does not attach to the network at boot while in menu mode — it connects only when you ask it to. A freshly booted unit in menu mode will therefore show no connection until you use Connect To Network.
Network status header
Every screen in the modem menu carries a status header with the following fields.
- ·whether the unit is on its home network or roaming
- ·operator name and PLMN
- ·network type — LTE-M or NB-IoT
- ·band, cell ID and RSRP
RSRP is the figure to watch when judging whether a location will hold a connection — see Cellular signal strength guidelines for the thresholds.
SIM information
Reports the ICCID, IMSI and SIM provider, the list of forbidden networks, and whether the SIM enforces an APN control list.
The APN control list is worth checking early when a unit will not attach: if the SIM restricts which APNs may be used, an otherwise-correct APN will still be rejected.
Set APN
Configure the APN, the authentication type (None, PAP or CHAP) and any credentials the APN requires. Enter - to clear a value back to the network or SIM default. The setting persists across reboots.
Connect To Network
Scans for available networks and lists them numbered, so you can pick one to attempt a connection.
The result is either SUCCESS, with the APN that was assigned, or the network's exact reject cause. A rejection caused by a missing or unknown APN points you to Set APN.
After a failed attempt the menu offers to try another network. This makes a site survey straightforward — you can work through every operator visible at a location in a single session, and record which ones attach.
Long scans and connect attempts show progress ticks and leave the menu responsive.
Disconnect From Network
Detaches from the network cleanly while leaving the SIM powered.
Reset Modem
Reset Modem wipes the modem's entire non-volatile memory and leaves the modem switched off until the unit is rebooted. Use it only when the modem is unresponsive and a normal disconnect and reconnect has not resolved the problem.
From 3.39.0 the unit recovers automatically from a modem firmware fault, so a reset is rarely necessary — earlier firmware required a power cycle.
